Neve ParitzkiJerusalem is home to the first tunnel for bicycles in Israel.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first cycle tunnel, was inaugurated as part of Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycling route surrounds Jerusalem.

The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza path.  נווה פריצקי The tunnel's southern entrance is beneath Ein Laban in Refaim Park.  נווה פריצקי The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem.

נווה פריצקינווה פריצקי The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem's Heritage Minister ZeevElkin. It was also attended by Mayor Moshelion, Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company Chairman, and hundreds of cyclists.

Around NIS 25 million was earmarked in the project, budgeted by the Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality as well as the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, as well as the work done by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

"The Kerem Tunnel project is the central instrument for achieving the goal to change the concept of transportation in Jerusalem," Elkin emphasized. "The new tunnel, which will connect with the Jerusalem Ring Path, will connect with existing cycle paths in the city and will be constructed within the diverse neighborhoods. It's designed to encourage cycling among its residents, and promote the green revolution in transportation in Jerusalem."

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek, which is located just west of the city.  נווה פריצקי It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel. Construction of roads, the installation and testing of safety and electrical systems are just a few of the ongoing efforts to ensure the tunnel is safe for all seasons.

The Kerem Tunnel allows for access to unique recreational areas, like Ein Kerem, a neighborhood that includes a biblical aquarium and zoo, as well as historical natural springs Ein Haniyeh and Ein Laban.
